Often referred to as the bad boy in the culinary business, Anthony Bourdain has more than 25 years of cooking experience. Like most popular chefs, he has appeared on television and is the author of several books.
He was born in New York but grew up in New Jersey. Bourdain says he fell in love with cooking as a very young boy - when he first tasted oysters while on a family holiday in France. In 1978, the chef graduated from the Culinary Institute of America.
In 1998, Bourdain began working as a chef at a restaurant located in Manhattan, New York. He has published culinary articles in the New York Times, Times, etc., several books, including two crime novels. One of his articles, entitled Don't Eat Before You Read This, became extremely popular, followed by the autobiographical novel Confidential from the Kitchen.
His book Confidential from the Kitchen becomes a bestseller - in it he tells in a humorous style about the restaurant business and the path he took to become a chef. And the popular series Confidential from the kitchen is based on the book. He says that it is not easy to work in such a business and probably most of those who have managed to develop are to some extent masochists.
Bourdain, however, does not take all this very seriously - he is said to live a debauched life in which alcohol, women, drugs and, of course, a lot of food are intertwined. His book became a real hit in the United States and the United Kingdom - and it brought him popularity, which grew over time and opened new doors for him to the television business and the publication of other books.
The chef has guest appearances on several culinary shows, and some of the most popular series he leads are A Cook's Tour, Anthony Bourdain: No Delays and more.
The main idea of the shows is Bourdain to present some not very popular tourist destinations through its own prism and along with the trip and the stories to try the local strange specialties.
In the show Without Restraints, he prepares a variety of unusual recipes, such as a roasted rectum of an African boar.
In his spare time, he enjoys playing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu - he started practicing the sport in 2013, claiming that his wife set him on fire.
He can be defined as a passionate researcher of cultures around the world - in addition to his indisputable qualities as a professional, he is also gifted with sharp language. This is what attracts the audience to his shows - he is able to express his opinion absolutely freely and without any hesitation.
His scathing wit is the reason why the viewers' opinions about him go to both extremes - either they like him unconditionally, or they consider him too cynical and rude. It is only certain that his direct approach cannot leave the viewers indifferent.

Every kitchen in the world hides its secrets. This is especially true for Chinese cuisine. Its traditions are very different from those in the rest of the world. For example, only in China is food served in bites. This is necessitated by the belief of the host that it is rude to make the diners cut themselves.

Anthony Bourdain - The Bad Boy Of The Culinary Business
He does not wear white clothes and tall cook hats. He is rude to obscenity and constantly insults. When he cooks (and not only), he uses an unacceptably large amount of alcohol, and drugs and indiscriminate sex are not "terra incognita"
