The new appliances in the kitchen undoubtedly facilitate the work of every housewife. How much longer would laundry take if there were no automatic washing machines, for example? However, all the appliances that help us in the kitchen actually harm women's health, researchers say.
Food processors, dishwashers, microwave ovens and all other appliances used in the household to facilitate work affect the weight of the fairer sex. This was stated by scientists from the University of Manchester and London, and their entire study was published in the Daily Mail.
Each appliance to help the housewife saves time in the kitchen, and thus women today spend 20 percent less time on housework than women in the 80s, scientists say. Heavy housework has been replaced by sitting in the office, the researchers conclude.
The study states that an hour spent washing the floor can help burn more than two hundred calories (approximately as much as one chocolate). For comparison - an hour of work in front of a computer burns only 70 calories, the scientists added.
Of course, gaining weight is not only due to this - people are starting to spend more and more money on food and therefore eat more serious amounts. In combination, people nowadays burn an average of 20 percent fewer calories than they did three decades ago.
Scientists believe that today people eat more properly, but exercise much less and spend more time in front of the TV than before. One of the main causes of obesity is a sedentary lifestyle, scientists say. In combination with poor nutrition and consumption of harmful foods, the problem is growing.
From another angle, however, the new appliances, which are already present in almost every household, make women's work much easier. In this way, the woman has more free time that she can dedicate to her loved ones or steal for herself.
