Aladdin Foods said it would provide a list of corrupt BFSA employees to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. Some of them are in leadership positions and have been racketeering traders for years.

At a press conference yesterday, the owner of the chain of diners - Aladdin Harfan, said he would not be satisfied with the dismissal of Plamen Mollov.

According to him, the whole structure is flawed and if a timely purge is not made, the corruption scheme will soon be activated again.

A list of the names of about 20 employees, whose dismissal will also be requested, will be presented to the relevant ministry. Among them are the main experts in the Food Agency - Dr. Rumen Chakarov and Stoyan Pashev, the head of the regional directorate in Plovdiv Nikolay Petkov, as well as a number of other inspectors.

Harfan will provide the same list to the new director of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency - Damyan Iliev, and will insist that these employees bear responsibility.

Aladdin Foods also filed a complaint with the prosecutor's office against the already former director of the BFSA, Plamen Mollov. The company insists that he be tried fairly for his actions.

According to them, teams patrolled all over the country, which were under the direct care of Mollov, and demanded from dozens of traders in our country a fee for peace of mind so that their business would not be closed.

Representatives of the National Association of Dairy Producers also confirmed that there are companies in their industry that are under pressure from BFSA inspectors. But so far no one has dared to file a complaint against the institution.

Aladdin also demanded legislative changes that would minimize the possibilities for blackmailing traders. Urgent changes are needed mostly in the Food Act, as the change of executive director alone does not mean that corruption in the Agency has been stopped, say representatives of the chain.

As for Mollov's opinion, which claims that the accusations against him are pure slander, Harfan says that he has a record showing how he is being asked for a bribe of 10,000 euros.
