Hawthorn or Crataegus laevigata is widely used in the manufacture of many drugs. Most often we associate it with the combination of mint-hawthorn-valerian, which is used for complete sedation. However, in addition to the nerves, hawthorn is also good for the heart.

Hawthorn is a widespread plant. Its small red fruits do not have a special taste, but on the other hand they shine with their countless benefits. If you come across it, it is best to fill your pockets so that you can make tea later. But beware - its branches are modified thorns.

The plant is one of the most valued in folk medicine. It contains compounds such as flavonoids, tannins, triterpene carbon and many others. They make it the number one plant against cardiovascular problems.

Hawthorn stabilizes blood pressure, reduces the risk of arrhythmia, treats heartbeat, improves the activity of the heart muscle and reduces its excitability. It is also recommended for stress and insomnia - in the most common combination - mint, hawthorn and valerian.

For heart problems, several recipes with hawthorn can be used. The most effective is the one with two tablespoons of hawthorn and a glass of brandy. The two are mixed in a dark glass jar. Leave in the dark for 1 week, then strain through gauze. Take twenty drops dissolved in water before each meal.

Another option for taking hawthorn is in the form of tea. 3 tablespoons dried hawthorn pour 500 ml of water and after 20 minutes infusion - the tea is ready. Daily intake of this tea has been shown to improve the work of the cardiovascular system only after a month.

In case of cardiac neurosis, a decoction of 2 tablespoons of hawthorn and 400 g of boiling water is recommended. Leave for 2 hours, then strain. To the resulting add 2 tablespoons of honey. Drink 1 teaspoon of the decoction 3 times a day before each meal.

If you do not have fresh hawthorn, hawthorn extract is taken. Take 20-30 drops 3-4 times a day. It also lowers blood cholesterol levels.
