Happiness is difficult to define. It can be said that it brings a wave of joy, quiet satisfaction, satisfaction and enjoyment. For some, the pleasure may be due to the small joys in life, others may be made happy by shared love, and still others - the realization of their dreams.
However, it turns out that food also plays an important role in human happiness. A new study shows that 65 percent of happy people eat more than 240 grams of fruits and vegetables a day.
It has long been known that fruits and vegetables are very useful for our body because they are a source of minerals, vitamins and fiber. They protect against a host of diseases such as diabetes, aneurysms, strokes and heart disease. A recent study also shows that regular consumption of fruits and vegetables is good for mental health.
For their study, the researchers used data on 13,983 people over the age of 16 who took part in a health survey in 2010 and 2011. Researchers have noticed that volunteers with the most stable psyche consume at least five servings of fruits and vegetables a day (there are 80-100 grams of greens in one serving).
31 percent of volunteers without mental health problems ate between three and four servings of fruits and vegetables a day, and 28 percent ate one hundred or two servings.
The researchers concluded that eating fruits and vegetables makes people happier than alcohol.
On the other hand, alcohol intake harms us for a number of reasons. Scientists have long proven that increased alcohol consumption leads to disturbances in consciousness, liver disorders, liver cirrhosis, pancreatitis, alcoholic polyneuropathy, cardiovascular failure, menstrual disorders in women, dementia and many other diseases. Alcohol also causes some mental problems, anxiety, depression, fear, anger and depression.
The study will certainly make many people think whether the next time they feel unhappy, reach for a glass of drink, or enjoy a nice fresh salad, experts say.
