Appetizers have become an integral part of our menu, especially if we have decided to invite guests. It is interesting to mention that they were invented in the Arab world and can include not only meat and dairy products, but also salads and any other type of hors d'oeuvres, which are served together at the table and consumed by all as an introduction to the main dish.

As we usually approach the latter with special care, it is good that our guests do not overeat with appetizers and that they do not have room in their stomachs for the main dish, for which we have spent the most time and effort.

That is why it is important to know which appetizers are considered too greasy and filling, including salads:

1. Fatty meats such as pork, which are used to make hams ready to serve fillets, should be avoided. Pork is very high in calories, and this is especially true for our favorite bacon;

2. The greasy Swiss and French cheeses that add luxury to our table should be served in moderation, because no matter how delicious they are, they contain a lot of calories;

3. Smoked fatty fish fillets, which are often served as appetizer, are also considered inappropriate. They are usually prepared with too much olive oil or vegetable oil and will saturate the guests before we serve the main course;

4. Try to forget about mayonnaise salads or if you serve them, they should be in small quantities. Our favorite Russian salad, which we serve as an appetizer, can easily be served as a side dish to the main course, and even then we must not forget that it is too filling;

5. The definition greasy appetizer applies in full force to pasta and potato salads, which also contain many calories;

6. Winter weather often for appetizers are served sauerkraut pickles, which are generously drizzled with oil or olive oil. Although cabbage itself is low in calories prepared in this way, it should serve as a side dish to the main course, rather than separately from it.
