The rains that fell over the country some time ago continue to have a negative impact on the harvest, with torrential rains causing many viruses on tomatoes and grapes.

Concerned growers predict that tomato prices will rise by nearly 50% due to rains that have ruined much of this year's harvest.

Every day, growers say that the large amount of water has caused many fungi and other viral and bacterial infections in vegetables, which destroy large areas of tomatoes.

Beans and peas are also affected in some places.

The native farmers say that their losses this year can be compensated only with higher prices of vegetables, as a kilogram of tomatoes this year can exceed 3 levs.

Experts say that such a rise in prices is already observed in domestic markets, and due to the rains we have higher prices this year for many fruits - cherries, apricots, peaches and apples.

Due to the lack of Bulgarian production, imports of fruits and vegetables from abroad are expected to increase this year - mostly from Greece and Turkey.

Producers from Haskovo say that the grape harvest this year will be very weak.

Losses in the area pass 80%, and state structures do not promise any compensation to farmers.

The vineyards in Haskovo were affected by manna, and the farmers' insurance did not cover such damages.

The huge vineyard in the village of Sesame feeds almost every family in the village. For years here they do not remember such a bad harvest as this year. Due to the manna, the grapes are almost destroyed.

To preserve at least part of their production, farmers are forced to spray the grapes every day. Growers only hope for high summer temperatures in the coming months, as only good weather can stop the spread of plant diseases such as manna.

Grape growers say it is too early to predict grape prices.
