An American company plans to produce beer with wastewater, Foodbeast reports.

The name of the company, which specializes in wastewater treatment, is Clean Water Services, and the management plans to start beer production with the help of another company.

Sewage water will be used in the preparation of the beer, which will be pre-purified. It will have undergone a three-stage processing system, the company explains.

The already completely clean water will be provided to the Oregon Brew Crew. The brewery will take care of the preparation of the drink - the legislation in Oregon allows the use of processed wastewater for industrial purposes and for irrigation.

The idea of both companies is to be able to change people's attitudes towards treated sewage, explains Clean Water Services spokesman Mark Jokers.

The Jokers also claim that the company's goal is to contribute to solving environmental problems. He even jokes that there is hardly a better option to discuss the possibilities for which purified water can be used than a mug of wastewater beer.

The treated wastewater is even cleaner than drinking water, according to experts working at Clean Water Services. Both companies hope that consumers will be able to overcome the psychological factor and will be curious to try the new type of beer.

Purified water can be very useful for other needs, as long as people perceive its use, experts add. This, in turn, can affect water losses in the long run globally, experts are convinced.

For the time being, ready-made drinks will not be placed on the market - this will only happen if the local health department approves the companies' idea. Both companies expect this to happen in April 2015.
