One of the most unpleasant procedures for the hosts is defrosting the refrigerator. That is why most modern refrigerators have a defrost system.

However, it is not always possible to exclude manual labor. It is recommended to clean the refrigerator once or twice a year.

The thawing process consists mainly in removing the snow cover from the surface of the evaporator of the deep-freezing chamber. Far in the past, there were refrigerators that had to be turned upside down once a month to thaw.

The more often the refrigerator freezer door is opened, the higher the humidity in your kitchen, the faster the snow cover will form.

This snow and sometimes ice cover does not harm the refrigerator itself, but because it has low thermal conductivity, it worsens freezing, interfering with the normal heat exchange between the products and the evaporator.

There is a risk of damaging parts of the refrigerator or evaporator when you try to remove products that are blocked by a layer of snow or ice.

Defrosting is required by those chambers that do not have an anti-frost system. If your refrigerator is such, remove all products before defrosting.

Products that can spoil quickly are placed in a box or saucepan, which is placed in a basin of cold water. Unplug the refrigerator, open the camera door, and leave it in this position.

Put a thick towel on the bottom of the refrigerator to soak up the running water. To speed up the defrosting process, you can put a container full of hot water in the chamber.

Do not try to scrape the ice with sharp objects, as this will damage the evaporator. Wait for the ice to melt and wipe the entire refrigerator well with a dry cloth.
