Dangerous lemons containing the toxic chemical Imazalil have slipped both on the markets in Bulgaria and on the markets in the other Balkan countries. Lemons are made in Turkey.

But unlike other countries in the Balkans, where lemons are labeled as toxic, in our country they are sold without customers being warned of the dangers of consuming them.

Turkish lemons contain the harmful chemical Imazalil, which provides them with greater strength and better appearance, and this ingredient is added not only in the peel, but throughout the fruit.

Doctors forbid this chemical to be consumed, as it causes skin irritation, watery eyes, and when several lemons with their inner part are consumed, the person who consumed them must be quarantined.

Imazalil can also lead to more serious consequences for human health, such as infertility and major central nervous system problems.

Experts advise that lemons be washed thoroughly with soap and water. Imazalil is a very dangerous chemical and has been shown to be carcinogenic, remaining stable even at very high temperatures.

Many people have already complained about the dangerous lemons they bought from their home markets. According to customers, the first signs that lemons are toxic are that they are difficult to release juice and have a very different taste from the familiar.

Lemons are again one of the most bought fruits in our country, after their prices dropped from the shocking BGN 8-9 per kilogram to the acceptable BGN 2. Many people also use lemons for healing procedures.

Experts advise that if you still have to eat lemons, do not eat more than half a day and be sure to throw away the peel, as it contains the most of the dangerous chemical.

Just consuming one of the toxic lemons is enough to harm your health.

The signal for the poisonous Turkish lemons was released by a Croatian website that published customer complaints. The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency has already ordered inspections in the case.
