In the middle of the last century, the American biochemist Ernst Krebs received it in purified and concentrated form, called it B17 or laetrile, and stated that it was a vitamin that successfully cured cancer. This statement turns the discovered substance into a sensation. What is known about the action of amygdalin in the fight against cancer cells?

Vitamin B17 and the fight against cancer

Bitter almond has been used in the fight against tumors since 4,000 years ago by the Chinese. Observations on the lives of peoples who eat foods rich in vitamin B17 are well known. For them, cancer is an unknown disease. Residents of the Hunza Valley on the border between India and Pakistan are the most high-profile case, as in their diet, apricot, the nut of which contains B17, is a staple food.
