Spaghetti, as well as most types of Italian pasta have entered the Bulgarian market for years and are a favorite dish on our table. They are a complete substitute for the bread that the Bulgarian is used to consuming at every meal, and they are easy and quick to prepare. However, in order to enjoy spaghetti, it is important to know not only what sauce to serve them with, but also how and how long to cook them.

The truth is that although they are quite high in calories, spaghetti is an easily digestible food. However, in order not to gain extra pounds from them, it is extremely important to learn how to cook them. Here is what is important to know in this regard:

1. Spaghetti belongs to starchy foods, so it is important to boil it in enough water to separate the starch from the product. 100 g of spaghetti should not be applied under 1 liter of water;

2. The water in which the spaghetti will be boiled must be slightly salted and boiled when the spaghetti is added. Otherwise, they will easily cough;

3. Italians usually do not put fat in the water in which the spaghetti is cooked, but if desired, you can add a little olive oil and spices. Oregano and basil go best with spaghetti;

4. Be sure to observe the cooking time of the spaghetti, which is indicated on their packaging. It depends on what the spaghetti itself is made of, as well as on the way it is prepared and its thickness;

5. Once the spaghetti is placed in the boiling water, cover with a lid until boiling;

6. You do not need to crush them, because they will quickly soften and will be able to enter the vessel in which you prepare them;

7. After turning, remove the lid of the pot. When ready, place in a colander to drain;

8. Keep in mind that Italians prefer their spaghetti more raw than Bulgarians, but if you want to make real al dente Italian spaghetti, follow their rules;

9. Remember also that spaghetti should be served warm with sauce. This means that if the sauce you are going to serve them with requires more time, it is good to start with it first and then put the spaghetti to cook.
