It has happened to every person to eat more food than necessary and then deeply regret that he did not stop at the right time.
Overeating can happen accidentally, but if it happens constantly, experts already define it as a really serious problem.
The secret is to find the right amount of food and, as we have often heard, to get a little hungry from the table. However, I wonder why we overeat and what is the main reason for doing so? Maybe because of nerves or because of very tasty food.
Professor Brian Wansink of Cornell University in the United States also made a paradoxical conclusion about overeating. He is the author of Insane Eating: Why We Eat More Than We Think, which answers questions about overeating.
According to the professor, people overeat often, not because the food is very tasty or because they are especially hungry. In his book, he described his numerous experiments with which the scientist conducted to answer the question of how much food a person eats and why he actually does it.
The author believes that the reason for being eternally hungry lies in the environment - friends, family, product packaging, size of tables, dishes and more.
Wansink believes that these are all things that people do not pay attention to, but they greatly affect nutrition.
The professor gives a particularly telling and interesting example, which is related to ice cream - Wansink believes that 100 grams of ice cream can be a lot and a little.
According to him, if we give the glutton 100 g of the cold delicious dessert in a small cup, this amount will seem completely normal and enough. However, if we put the same amount of ice cream in a large glass - he will probably think that the dessert is too small.
The research on which the book is based was conducted with the help of 63 experts. And the main conclusion reached in it is that the reason for overeating is not in the delicious food at all, nor do we do it out of hunger, but rather the reason is psychological.
