Swiss cuisine is a mixture of several other culinary areas - French, German and last but not least Italian. And despite the many borrowed culinary subtleties, Swiss cuisine itself has its own distinct personality. There are several traditional things in Switzerland in terms of culinary, which are known to the world and which are very popular not only in their homeland.

What is always present on the table is the cheese. Even most dishes contain cheese, which is actually well known all over the world. But this is not the only thing that will attract your attention. In Switzerland, they rely a lot on dishes that contain various vegetables. Local products are most often used to make dishes that contain fish, beef and game.

Two of the most common and popular dishes, even in the world, contain the Swiss cheese we have already mentioned. We are talking about fondue and raclette. Let's pay a little more attention to both dishes, because they are spread all over the world and are the trademark of Swiss cuisine.

Raclette is a dish that contains in addition to cheese and various vegetables. To prepare it, you need a special cooking appliance resembling a grill, but also quite different from it. In Switzerland you can find a variety of variations of the device - from very cheap to incredibly expensive.

The cheese needs to be cut into pieces about 6 mm thick. Raclette cheese can have different flavors - with onion, pepper, garlic and others. The appliance we mentioned is placed on the table and everyone prepares their own dish. The appliance actually melts the cheese to the desired consistency, then adds it to the baked potatoes with the skin pre-halved.

While everyone is melting their piece of cheese, different types of vegetables can be placed on the appliance to be baked - onions, carrots, peppers. A variety of meats can also be added to complement the taste of the cheese. Everything is freshly baked and delicious.

Fondue - also a very interesting part of Swiss cuisine. What is the homeland of this dish is a bit controversial, because the French claim that it was France that started this interesting dish.

In it, again, the main protagonist is the cheese, and just like a raclette, it is prepared by each individual. Here we are talking about two types of cheese - Vasherin and Gruyere. In addition to the cheese, black pepper, nutmeg, a little white wine and last but not least the Swiss cherry brandy Kirsch are added.

Optionally, in some parts of Switzerland, add a little garlic. All this is served while still boiling. It is consumed as follows - a piece of bread is stuck on a stick and dipped in the mixture, then it is taken out, turned to drain the cheese and eaten.

Again, we can see differences in parts of Switzerland. In some places, the bite is first dipped in Kirsch and then in the cheese. Suitable alcohol for it is white wine and beer. Somewhere in Switzerland, while eating fondue, they drink black tea.

Another well-known Swiss dish is Rosti - it contains onions, butter and potatoes. And when it's time for dessert, order the delicious cherry cake - Candied Cherry Cake (Zuger Kirschtorte). In Switzerland, they also love bread, but the most common and bought is black bread.
