The Germans are famous for their exceptional cohesion, inherent in every family. The main thing that unites them is beer - the number one drink in Germany.

The love for it is so great that their one-liter mugs seem small every year at Oktoberfest - a national annual beer festival. During the holiday, as well as during the rest of the year, the beer must be served with the traditional ones German appetizers.

The main appetizer of the Germans is made up of meat. They are not fond of vegetarian varieties of any food. One of the most famous appetizers is Bratwurst. This is a steamed sausage in a natural sheep intestine.

The recipe according to which it is prepared is traditionally German. The sausage itself can be grilled or fried in a pan. Similar is the preparation of another very common beer appetizer in Germany - Wienerwurst.

They are golden smoked, steamed sausages, hand-stuffed in sheep intestines. They are extremely juicy and fragrantly seasoned, and in addition to grilling and frying, they can be prepared and boiled in boiling water.

At the table in combination with beer, the German hosts most often serve a meat salad with sausages. They are a salad with sausages, pickles, potatoes and cheese, with or without mayonnaise sauce.

To make it you will need: 500 g of German sausages, 2 eggs, 1 onion, 2 large pickles, 1 small apple, 200 g of gouda, edamer or another type of yellow cheese (yellow cheese), optional, 5 tbsp.. mayonnaise or white salad dressing

Method of preparation: All products are cut into cubes and mixed with mayonnaise. Leave for 30 minutes in the refrigerator before serving. Such a salad lasts up to a week, stored cold. In Germany it is served with bread.

Another popular appetizer is Krakow bigos. Its preparation is quite complicated. Take fresh cabbage and cut into thin and long strips. Bring to the boil, discarding the water three times so that the cabbage does not irritate the stomach.

While boiling, cut the same amount of sauerkraut in the same way. Take fresh, cleaned pork and cut into large cubes. In a large saucepan, fry coarsely chopped onions in lard (or oil) and chopped bacon.

Add the meat. Preferably, chicken, beef or turkey, as well as various types of sliced sausages can be added. Cabbage of both types is added, as the proportions of cabbage: meat are 1: 1, mushrooms, dried mushroom flour, black pepper, hot red pepper, allspice, bay leaf, cumin, marjoram, raisins and sugar.

All this is poured with a little cabbage juice and a few spoons of vodka. Allow to simmer for a few hours and consume the next day. It is not like our typical appetizers, but it is an interesting appetizer for beer as well as for all other alcoholic beverages.
