Apart from treating various ailments, the spice is often used in cooking. You can use dried, powdered or fresh. It is desirable to store fresh ginger in the refrigerator, and dried, which is in packets, you can keep in the dark and cool.

The roots are harvested before they are fully ripe - they must be juicy and fresh. The canned version of the spice is most often used in confectionery, but it is still not popular enough in Bulgaria.

Ginger can also be added to soups, various sauces, vegetables. Put a pinch of ginger in the tomato sauce - it will give it a very pleasant aroma. Just a little of the spice, finely grated, if fresh, will make your red beet salad very exotic. It can be combined with spices with a strong aroma, such as garlic, for example.

Pregnant and lactating women should limit the intake of the spice. Ginger has an antiseptic effect and is effective in food poisoning. It is also active in nausea, indigestion and diarrhea. According to some sources, it is also an excellent aphrodisiac.
