We celebrate on October 16th World Food Day. Today we also mark the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
World Food Day was first celebrated in 1981. Over the years on this date, the world community has focused on different areas.
As we know, food is the key to normal physical and mental development. However, in order to benefit from it, it must be in certain quantities and be of good quality.
The food we eat should charge the body with energy and guarantee us iron health. The supply of vitamins, minerals, proteins, carbohydrates and fats must be tailored to the individual needs of each person.
Eating should never be indiscriminate and just for fun. It is good to follow some simple rules.
Fresh fruits, colorful vegetables, dairy products, fats (nuts, olive oil, avocados) and whole grains should be consumed daily. Experts also recommend avoiding the consumption of confectionery and snacks.
The intake of alcohol, coffee, carbonated drinks and natural juices is not looked upon favorably. At the same time, drinking plenty of water is a must. Sport is also very important, not only for weight regulation, but also for keeping the body in good condition.
World Food Day aims to make people a little more empathetic to the problems of others and remind them of the millions who cannot afford to eat properly. Statistics show that every day about one billion people can not get the necessary healthy food.
Research shows that poor nutrition can lead to a number of problems. Bad food is also responsible for the deaths of many young people living in developing countries.
