The use of products of animal origin - meat, fish, milk and eggs, as well as white bread, pretzels, candies and mayonnaise is prohibited.

Allowed foods are vegetable: fruits - fresh or dried, vegetables, including sauerkraut, pickles, pickles.

Of the breads, black, standard and rusks are allowed. You can eat mushrooms, walnuts, any porridge made with water and it is allowed to drink tea. On Annunciation and Palm Sunday, fish is allowed on the menu.

Fasting is the strictest in the first and last week of Easter fasting. On Maundy Monday - the first Monday of Easter Lent, it is accepted in full abstinence from food. On Friday of the first week it is allowed to eat only boiled wheat sweetened with honey or sugar.

The rest of the time: Monday, Wednesday, Friday - dry food: water, bread, fruits, vegetables, compotes. On Tuesdays and Thursdays - hot food without fat.

On Saturday and Sunday - food with vegetable fat. Giving up certain foods is not the main goal of fasting. Its main purpose is to elevate man spiritually.
