Safu / Safou / comes from the northern regions of Africa, including Nigeria, Angola, Zaire, Cameroon, Congo, Gabon and others. It contains a lot of protein, triglycerides, fatty acids and many vitamins and minerals. It is an evergreen tree that has large, purple fruits. Some people call it Fruit Oil.

Composition of Safu

Safu contains a lot of amino acids and fiber. There are almost 15 grams of protein for every 100 grams of fruit and almost as many carbohydrates. And it is a great source of energy - over 600 kcal per 100 grams.

It also contains minerals such as potassium for the cardiovascular system and for regulating water, magnesium for nerves and the brain, and calcium for healthy bones and for regulating the acid base.

Contains powerful antioxidants. There are over 25 mg of vitamin C in 100 grams of fruit. And there are more than 700 mg of vitamin A in 100 grams. Both are important for eliminating free radicals and preventing cancer.

Safu oils contain linoleic acid, steroid acid, oleic acid and palmitic acid, which are important for the cardiovascular system. Safu contains tannins, saponins, flavonoids and alkaloids, which are also important for health and vitality. The leaves and roots of the tree have been used to treat dysentery and tonsillitis.

Safu also contains over 45% edible oils and a lot of protein, similar to avocados. Some believe that more than 8 tons of oil can be harvested from 1/2 hectare of Safu trees, thus stopping famine in many countries.

Benefits of Safu

Safu can be eaten raw as well as cooked, and also used as animal feed. There is some interest in the cosmetics industry in the use of Safu oil, which is full of antioxidants. Some call Safu a gold mine for nutrition and health, which is not yet a sufficiently researched product.
