The rambutan is an Asian fruit that is becoming increasingly popular in our country. You can also find it under the name hairy. It looks a bit like a chestnut before its skin is removed. The homeland of rambutan is Thailand, and throughout Asia it is very loved and highly valued. What exactly does it look like and how do we know if we are buying the right one rambutan?

It has a special shell - a small and elongated fruit that has a rind on which there are fibers defined as hair. Its outer shell is dark red in color and the inside is transparent white. Under the rind of the fruit there is a consistency that resembles jelly, and in the middle - a nut.

If you want to buy ripe fruit, you have to look rambutan with a dark red rind, and if you want it to have a very sweet taste - the "hair" of the fruit should be slightly dry. The taste is determined differently. Depending on how much ripe fruit you buy, rambutan can be sweet, slightly sour, even tart and slightly bitter.

If you want to store this fruit in your home for a long time, you need to keep it at the right temperature. It is very important to say that once detached, rambutan no longer ripe. If they have torn it off immaturely and you take it with the thought that it will ripen at home - do not do it.
