On the occasion the feast of the pie, which is organized annually in the village of Vratsa with the name of the pasta - Banitsa, a competition for the most deliciously prepared pie will be organized.
So far, more than 100 masters of the typical Bulgarian culinary work have confirmed their participation. The festival will take place this Sunday, and visitors will be able to eat belly patties.
In addition to eating, the guests of the festival will be able to appreciate the tried and tested products.
This year, however, the feast of the pie will be held with a new regulation. The anonymity of the competition is removed, and a special tent will be provided for each of the pastry chefs, in which he will demonstrate not only the final result, but also the subtleties of preparing the delicious temptation.
The pastries will be divided into 4 categories - Salty traditional pies, Pies with meat, Pies with vegetables, Sweet and original pies.
Cash prizes are provided for the winners, and there will be bonuses for those masters who have arranged their table in the most attractive way.
The mayor of Vratsa - Nikolay Ivanov, will not change the tradition and will go to the festival with a few sacks of flour. He will distribute them to the chefs who manage to impress him the most.
Most of the contenders at the moment are from the village hosting the festival. A total of 30 men, women and even children with experience in making pies will take part from Banitsa.
There will be competitors from the villages of Pavolche, Zgorigrad and Kostalevo.
For the second year in a row, the jury, which will announce the most delicious pies in the respective categories, is headed by culinary expert Ivan Zvezdev.
The race on May 10 will start exactly at 10.30 am in front of the local community center. The organizers of the holiday promise a number of surprises for all present.
