Fight (Paliurus spina-christi) is a thorny shrub with a strongly branched stem. It is 2-3 m high.

Its leaves are leathery, bare and shiny. It has small flowers, and its fruit is a dry, hemispherical non-cracking stone. The shrub blooms from June to September, and the fruits ripen from July to October.

Usually the draca bush can be found on rocky and stony slopes, mainly on calcareous terrain. It often grows on sea dunes, and enters sparse oak forests. It is found almost everywhere in Bulgaria, up to 600 m above sea level.

Legend has it that the dracaena is the plant from which the wreath of thorns is woven, laid on the head of Jesus Christ before his crucifixion. Hence its more common name - "Christ's thorn".

The fruits of dracaena are used in medicine. They are used as an expectorant to soothe an elastic cough.

They are used to treat whooping cough and chronic bronchitis, diarrhea, shortness of breath, dysentery, nocturnal urination and more. Draca is recommended for the treatment of hypertension and some skin diseases, such as eczema, rashes and others.

It has anti-inflammatory action. All its properties dracaena due to its rich content of tannins and flavonol glycoside rutin. Draca is also used to purify the blood.

Draca floors are harvested in the second half of summer to mid-autumn - August-September. They are picked with gloves or hammered with a stick due to the prickliness of the plant. Dried fruits have a light brown color, odorless and with a bitter taste. Shelf life is 3 years.

How to use. A decoction is prepared from the fruits of dracaena. 1 tablespoon of fruit is boiled with 1/2 liter of water. Strain and drink 1/2 teaspoon of the result sweetened with honey before eating. In large doses, a decoction of the fruits of the bush dracaena can severely irritate the digestive tract and kidneys.
