Red rice is a type of whole grain rice. It has a red outer shell, has a thick taste and a slightly tough texture.
This type of rice is very rich in nutrients, and in terms of fiber content it surpasses even brown rice. As it is rich in starchy carbohydrates and low in fat, it is suitable for any healthy diet.

However, according to recent scientific studies, bran has such an effect only when separated from the grain. It has also been found that the adverse effects of bran are offset when taken at the same time as foods rich in fatty acids (eg oily fish and nuts).
