The best cheese in the world is the English blue cheese Bath Blue, which matures for at least eight weeks in special stone rooms.
At the 26th edition of the World Cheese Awards in London, English blue cheese beat the competition by beating cheeses from Swiss, Dutch and French producers.
The winning cheese producers are third-generation dairies and have recently been producing cheese. The English delicacy managed to beat the competition of almost 2600 cheeses.
The name of the cheese is Bath Blue and its producers say that it is made from organic milk, after which it is left to ripen.
The ripening time of the cheese is between eight and ten weeks. Some of the competitors were producers from Canada and Brazil, Mexico and Argentina, New Zealand and others. Canadian judge Louis Aird explains that the taste of the winner Bath Blue was extremely balanced.
In the winning cheese, Aird felt the classic note of blue cheese. He explains that blue cheeses can have a metallic taste, which, if not felt, means that there is too much salt in the cheese. There was no such problem with Bath Blue.
The second position remains for the cheddar cheese of the British producers Barber's Farmhouse Cheesemakers, and the bronze medalist in the competition is the Dinaric Sir cheese. Dinar cheese is a combination of cow's and goat's milk, and the producer of the interesting cheese is the Croatian Sirana Gligora.
French cheese maker Roland Barthelemy is also leaving the competition with a prize - he won the award for outstanding contribution to the cheese.
And speaking of cheese - a Danish company has solved its problem with dairy products, which can not be exported to Russia, due to the ban on imports of products coming from the EU, which was imposed.
Danish entrepreneurs have decided to donate about 15 tons of cheese to the poor in the country. Arla explains that to a large extent they have managed to redirect their products to different markets.
But for various reasons, there are still 15 tons of cheese left, which the company failed to sell.
