Children who do not eat breakfast regularly are more likely to develop type 2 diabetes when they grow up, according to a study by several London universities.

Researchers from Oxford, Cambridge, Glasgow and St. George in London claim that daily skipping breakfast affects children's health at a later stage of their development.

According to the study, the lack of breakfast for years leads to the development of type 2 diabetes. This is because over time the body becomes insulin resistant, which is a key factor in the development of the disease.

The British study included 4,000 children from primary school to the age of nine or ten.

The final results showed that children who missed breakfast ate the first symptoms of type 2 diabetes over time. This was not reported in children who ate breakfast every day.

Non-snackers have higher insulin levels and their bodies are less able to respond to the hormone that usually regulates blood sugar.

Daily breakfast is necessary for a child to be healthy, active and energetic. However, this does not mean that he has breakfast with whatever he can find. It is not recommended for the child to start his day with patties or cakes bought outside.

These snacks are full of calories, salt, sweeteners and harmful fats, which, in addition to not being useful, can greatly worsen the condition of the body.

Suitable snacks for a child contain dairy products such as milk, yogurt, butter, cheese and yellow cheese. Cereals such as muesli, bread and cornflakes should also be included in the breakfast.

You can prepare a boiled egg, slices of wholemeal bread, ham and yellow cheese for your child. Waffles and pancakes made at home from wholemeal flour and spread with honey or cheese are also a suitable breakfast.

If you do not have much time, you can prepare a bowl of muesli, drizzled with milk.
