Lemonade is a refreshing drink that is enjoyed by people of all ages around the world. It consists of lemon, water and sugar and is very easy to prepare. History of lemonade
Lemons were first found in northern India, China and Burma, and were used in Persia, the Arab world, Iraq and Egypt around 700. Lemon was the main ingredient in various dishes and lemonade was made in countries where there were lemons.
However, the first written evidence for the existence of lemonade was found in the Egyptian scriptures, and therefore there is reason to believe that lemonade originated in Egypt. They say that the villagers there drank wine made from lemon, dates and honey.
Others believe that lemonade was first discovered in France in the 16th century. In Cairo, lemonade was a favorite drink not only of the locals, but was also exported in the 13th century.
Today you can find a variety of ready-made types of lemonade drinks in stores. There are three main types of lemonade, namely plain (pure), cloudy and carbonated lemonade. Pure lemonade is made from carbonated or plain water, without added sugar.
It is a popular drink in European countries, but recently sweetened versions are also common. Turbid lemonade is a traditional drink in India, the United States and Canada and is made from plain water, lemon and sugar. Carbonated lemonade is made from soda, using both natural and artificial lemon essences.
Pink Lemonade
Another type of lemonade is pink lemonade, popular in the United States. It is usually made from beet juice and is sweeter than normal lemonade. There are some funny stories about the creation of this type of lemonade. One of them states that a few drops of pink paint fell from the boots of a rider from the circus in New Jersey in the lemonade of Henry Griffith. Since he didn't have time to make lemonade again, it was given to customers and became a big hit.
Recently, there are various types of pink lemonade made from natural juices of grapes, cherries, red grapes and strawberries.
Today, lemonade is preferred not only as a separate drink, but also as an additive in various cocktails. Children in the United States set up lemonade stands in their neighborhoods to make money during the summer.
