Over the past decade, research teams from around the world have been working to find ways to prevent and combat type 2 diabetes.

A research team from the University of Eastern Finland has been able to prove that eating eggs successfully reduces the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, despite its high cholesterol content.

An article published in the authoritative scientific journal Science Daily tells about the long-term research of the Finnish scientific team. Scientists have worked for more than 20 years. The study covered more than 2332 men aged 42 to 60 years.

The results clearly showed that people who consumed at least four eggs a week had a 37 percent lower risk of type 2 diabetes than those who ate one egg a week.

Even more surprising was the fact that the lower susceptibility to the insidious disease is not influenced by factors such as physical activity, weight, smoking, consumption of fruits and vegetables. However, the study also showed that eating more than four eggs a week has additional benefits.

The authors of the study carefully analyzed the eating habits of the participants in the experiment. This activity began in 1995. Twenty years later, nearly 500 of the participants had type 2 diabetes.

It is already known for sure that one of the main factors in the development of the disease is lifestyle and diet. In the last five years, the alarming trend has shown that the incidence of type 2 diabetes is increasing dramatically.

According to Finnish scientists, regular consumption of eggs contributes to the improvement of glucose balance in the body and reduces the risk of developing the disease.

Another hypothesis of scientists about the beneficial effect of eggs to prevent type 2 diabetes is that in addition to cholesterol, they contain many useful ingredients that can affect glucose metabolism and mild inflammation and thus reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes.
