Do you like to eat sushi, but you don't always go out to a restaurant or you don't care about long rolls?
We have a solution for you and your culinary desires and it's called sushi salad. The best thing about this recipe is that you get an authentic taste by saving the annoying part of making sushi itself - just mix everything in a bowl and enjoy an Asian evening at home.
In general, this appetizing salad has everything that is put in sushi, and the main ingredient, of course, is rice. It also makes a great sauce that will really make you feel like you are in a Japanese restaurant - thanks to the wasabi and ginger sauce that we will put.
The whole preparation process takes 55 minutes. If you want a completely authentic taste, it is best to buy all the ingredients from the Asian section of the supermarket you visit. But even if you don't, certainly this one salad with sushi it will also be great with what you have on hand.
Here are the products you will need:
• 1 tea cup of rice for sushi;
• 2 1/4 cups of water;
• 1/4 cup plus 3 more tablespoons of rice vinegar;
• 1/4 sugar crystals;
• 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt;
• 1 tablespoon sesame seeds;
• 2 tablespoons chopped very finely marinated ginger;
• 3 green onion stalks, chopped;
• 2 medium carrots finely chopped;
• 1 large cucumber, which is peeled and sliced;
• 1 cup edamame;
• 2 leaves of seaweed, cut into strips;
• 1 sliced avocado;
• 100 g of smoked salmon.
For the sauce:
• 2 teaspoons of wasabi powder
• 1 tablespoon hot water
• 2 tablespoons cold water
• 2 tablespoons soy sauce
• 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed ginger juice
Method of preparation:
In a large skillet, mix the water and rice. After boiling, reduce to a very low temperature, put a lid and cook for 45 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a small bowl, bring the large amount of rice vinegar to a boil along with the sugar and salt. Once completely dissolved, remove from heat.
Take a salad bowl and mix the rice with the vinegar mixture in it. Once cool, pour in the sesame seeds, remaining rice vinegar, ginger, vegetables, salmon, edamame and seaweed strips. Arrange the sliced avocado on top of all this.
Now all we have to do is make the sauce for homemade sushi salad. First mix the wasabi in warm water, then mix it with cold water, soy sauce and ginger juice. Pour it over your sushi salad and serve.
