Not much is known about the fact that they are richer in vitamin C than most fresh vegetables. The content of vitamin C decreases over time. Immediately after their removal from the soil, vitamin C in potatoes is 50-100 mg, after three months - 15 mg, and after six months it is already 5 mg.
Today, potatoes are off the list of foods forbidden for people who want to lose weight. They are still not recommended only for some inflammatory bowel diseases.
With the advancement of the science of diets, it has been found that potatoes should find a place in the menu of those who want to lose weight, because they lack fat, and at the same time stimulate muscle function. Among the products containing starch, they are the lowest in calories due to the high percentage of water and therefore fresh potatoes are about 2 times lower in calories than autumn. Over time, the starch content increases. In an average dose there are 225-270 calories and as the satiety effect is quickly achieved, the appetite for dessert decreases.
The useful effect of potatoes is closely dependent on the method of preparation.
It is recommended to cook the potatoes whole and unpeeled - so the vitamins are preserved. They should be steamed or in a [pressure cooker], baked in the oven or on the grill, served with jelly meat, with a suitable sauce or with cheese instead of butter.
Boiled peeled or fried potatoes lose all their vitamins. Warning - french fries contain seven times more calories than steamed.
Potatoes are easy to digest, can be eaten twice a day, according to preference - in soup or main course. The recommended daily dose for an adult is 250-300 g of potatoes (this is the weight for raw and unpeeled).
In addition to vitamin C, potatoes are rich in potassium, necessary for the functioning of muscles, including the heart muscle. They are rich in various trace elements, vitamin B, proteins that are closest to the bark, so they should be peeled into thin flakes. (The exception is for potatoes with a greenish tinge on the skin, they should be peeled better until the green part, which is harmful, is removed)
Potatoes much less often than eggs, milk and chocolate cause allergies.
