Bad news shook the cookie lovers. Crackers and other dry foods actually have the ability to store dangerous bacteria like salmonella for six months, according to researchers at the University of Georgia.

After research, experts found that in these seemingly harmless foods, bacteria could survive relatively longer than they thought.

For the purposes of their study, the specialists infected several strains of biscuits with several strains of salmonella. They then stored the products to be tested for some time. They later found that in some of the fillings the bacterium managed to survive after 6 months.

However, this is not the only shocking revelation identifying unsuspected sources of bacteria. Specialists from the University of Valencia have found harmful bacteria in the coffee grounds, informs Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

The pests were spotted in each of the coffee machines used in the study. In addition, the bacteria found showed resistance to high temperatures.

The researchers found that in most coffee machines, they came across enterococci, pseudomonas and other bacteria, which should not be underestimated at all.

Experts emphasize that the results of the study should not cause panic in people, but still should not be underestimated. That is why they recommend that coffee machines be thoroughly cleaned regularly.

According to experts, if a person drinks from an uncleaned coffee machine, there is a risk of developing infections affecting the urinary tract and others.
