The kilogram of Smilyan beans reached BGN 10, and according to the producers, its current value is pure speculation on the part of traders in our country. The high price of beans made an impression during the exhibition Support the Bulgarian in Smolyan.
The new value of the delicatessen bean variety was explained by the drought in the summer and the weaker harvest compared to last year.
However, Safidin Chikurtev from the Agricultural Credit Cooperative in Smilyan commented to Darik that the price over BGN 8 per kilogram of beans is speculation.
Although it can still be found Smilyan beans at the old price of BGN 8 per kilogram, there are many traders who offer it at higher values without a specific reason.
In fact, yields this year were between 20 and 30 percent lower due to the warmer July, but this should not affect the price, categorical for local farmers.
According to Chikurtev, only the farmers who were careless with their products and did not water the fields regularly with beans during the hot summer days, have a half weaker harvest.
In order to be fair to Bulgarian producers, the Agricultural Credit Cooperative insists that each producer write his personal name and telephone number on the label.
This will create a direct connection between buyers and Bulgarian farmers and it will be possible to monitor whether the data on the label correspond to reality, and consumers will be more confident in the origin of the goods.
According to the Market Price Index, greenhouse tomatoes, which are wholesale for BGN 1.46 per kilogram, have also risen in price. Garden tomatoes are also more expensive, whose price per kilogram is already BGN 1.07.
There is a slight increase in prices for fruits as well, the most noticeable being apples, which are 3.2% more expensive. Grapes and pears, on the other hand, have become cheaper.
