As of today (December 21), the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) has launched another series of intensified inspections in connection with the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays.

The inspectors of the agency will inspect enterprises for production and trade in food, warehouses for trade in foodstuffs, public catering establishments.

The objects for retail trade in food products, markets and exchanges, as well as all sites that offer their customers all-inclusive packages for the upcoming holidays will also be subject to inspection.

Among the main things that the inspectors from the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency will monitor will be the origin, the terms, the storage conditions and the proper labeling of the food.

The registration of the sites, the conformity of the building stock and equipment will also be checked.

The purpose of the next massive action of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency is to prevent the attempts of unscrupulous producers and traders to abuse during the holidays.

The Food Safety Agency started an intensified series of inspections at retail outlets in early December, before the St. Nicholas holidays.

As a result of joint actions between teams of the National Revenue Agency, the Interior Ministry and the BFSA, nearly 50 tons of meat from 43 retail outlets in the country were seized a few days ago.

Even during the holidays, citizens will be able to report irregularities to the hotline of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency - 0700 122 99 or online.

Over Christmas and New Year, the signals will be received by BFSA duty teams, which will be able to react to the submitted signals and perform extraordinary inspections.
