On 6th of January the Christian church celebrates one of its biggest holidays - Yordanov day or also called Epiphany. For the feast of the table should be present only lean meals.

It is obligatory to put walnuts on our table for Jordan's Day. Like the Christmas Eve tradition, walnuts can be used to guess what the year will be like.

Each person at the table must take a walnut and break it. If the walnut is healthy, the year will be good, and if it is moldy or rotten - the year will be unsuccessful.

A ceremonial pie made of wheat flour mixed with millet flour is also prepared for the holiday. In some regions of Bulgaria instead of millet they mix wheat flour and corn.

On the table for the Epiphany cabbage cabbage, stuffed peppers with beans, boiled wheat and wine should also be added.

C Epiphany the period of the so-called Dirty Days, when weddings are forbidden, comes to an end. From Jordan's Day to Easter Lent, weddings are again allowed according to the Christian canon.

The last incense dinner is organized on Jordan's Day. This means that in the evening before the holiday a candle should be lit, which should burn on the table for January 6.

The incense, the bathing in water, as well as the other ritual traditions of the Epiphany are performed for cleansing from the evil forces during the transition from the old to the new year. Rituals are practiced to protect ourselves from evil this year.

It is believed that the Yordanov day Jesus Christ was baptized in the Jordan River, hence the name of the feast. On the night of January 6, it is said that the sky opens and all wishes come true.
