Another study of green and black tea proves that it will not only cheer us up and relax us, but also improve brain function. The study is the work of scientists from the University of Newcastle, UK. Neurological activity increases about thirty minutes after drinking a cup of these teas, the study said.

The ability of a person to make a decision, as well as his memory, is significantly improved, the scientists from Great Britain are categorical. The current study does not answer the question of which ingredients in green and black tea are responsible for this ability. However, past studies on this subject confirm that the credit goes to flavonoids.

Experts emphasize that people who prefer to add milk to the drink can do so safely, because it will not prevent flavonoids from doing their job.

Flavonoids have been studied by many scientists and are known to reduce clogged arteries and improve blood vessel function. They also help control inflammatory processes in the body.

To study green and black tea, the researchers used several volunteers - the researchers observed the brain waves of people after drinking tea. They wanted to find out how the drink affects neurological functions. Eight of the volunteers drank a cup of tea before measuring their brain activity.

Electrodes were placed on their heads, which can detect an increase in three types of brain waves - alpha, beta and theta, within 60 minutes after drinking the drink.

The researchers found a significant increase in theta waves from the 30th to the 60th minute after drinking tea. Both black and green tea improve and stimulate the activity of cognitive functions, experts explain.

In alpha and beta brain waves, researchers have not noticed a significant increase, but there is still some change, say British experts.

Past studies of these two drinks have found that regular consumption will help reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. If a person is already ill, research shows that green and black tea will reduce the progression of the disease.
