Growing white smel

White grind is a relatively undemanding plant in terms of soil and care. White sage is easily propagated by cuttings. For this purpose, cuttings are taken in September and placed in boxes. The cuttings are left to overwinter in the light, in cold greenhouses. Overwintering plants can be used in the spring to obtain new cuttings and for propagation.

Collection and storage of white smel

In folk medicine, the above-ground part of white smil is mainly used, sometimes, but the roots of the plant are also used less often. The above-ground part is cut off and the whole plant is uprooted together with the roots in June or August. If the roots will not be used, they are removed. The collected material is cleaned of impurities and waste, then dried outdoors, in dry and ventilated rooms or in an oven at a temperature not exceeding 40 degrees. From about 5 kg of fresh stalks 1 kg of dry ones is obtained. The drugs are then packed in standard weight bales, which are stored in ventilated rooms suitable for the purpose.

Benefits of white grind

Received by white grind extracts experimentally show hypotensive effect, dilate peripheral vessels, slow heart rate, enhance intestinal peristalsis. White sage also has antimicrobial action. Oil extracts from the drug in experiments show enhancing reparative processes in tissue action.

This action is especially clear in burns and ulcers. Clinically, white sage preparations have been shown to be effective in the early stages of hypertension and in peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum. In most ulcer patients with this treatment the pain stops, the general self-esteem improves, the patients gain weight, become calmer. In the form of oil extracts, white sage is useful in the treatment of burns, fistulas, long-term non-healing purulent ulcers of the lower leg, etc.
