There is a way to cool a drink in less than 2 minutes without using the freezer. If you are in a hurry to drink a cold beer or soft drink, be sure to get acquainted with this technique.
The experiment can also be seen on Youtube with the title How to Cool a Drink in 2 minutes. The video shows that with minimal effort we can make an iced drink.
First, pour a bowl of water, then fill it with ice. Add about one or two teaspoons of salt and stir. Then place the drink in the bowl.
After one minute, stir again, and when 2 minutes have passed, you can check that the drink is really cold.
At the beginning of the experiment it is shown that the temperature of the drink to be cooled is 24 degrees Celsius, and after the procedure it has dropped to 5 degrees Celsius - ideal if you want to drink something cooling.
You don't need to be a scientist to understand the function of ice, but why add salt? The answer is that table salt helps the ice in the bowl to melt faster and remove heat from the drink. This time provokes the faster cooling of the hot box.
The law of thermodynamics also has something to say on the subject - two substances with different temperatures reach temperature equilibrium over time. And since we don't have to turn the liquid drink into ice, we only need 2 minutes to make it cold.
In fact, this household trick is not from yesterday, but was used in the era before the invention of the refrigerator. The combination of salt and ice was used a lot for quick cooling when the temperatures outside were high and people wanted something cold.
