A few days ago, an illegal vegetable canning workshop was found in the town of Dupnitsa. The activity of the enterprise was revealed after a signal was submitted to the Regional Directorate for Food Safety in Kyustendil.

During the inspection it was established that 16 women who were engaged in the production activity in the workshop work illegally in the company.

The Dupnitsa workshop processed food without registering with the Food Agency. No documents have been submitted for canned foods.

Six tons of peppers of unknown origin were found in the plant. The production was confiscated, and the prosecutor's office is already working on the case.

The illegal company is located on the road between the town of Dupnitsa and the village of Bistritsa near the Rila National Park. There are no signs around the building to indicate that it is producing.

According to initial data, the canned vegetables were imported from Greece. It remains to be determined where exactly the production was intended and how the raw material reached the illegal workshop.

The Regional Directorate for Food Safety has terminated the activity of the enterprise. The labor inspectorate is also expected to rule on the case after the inspection.

Joint inspections of the Food Safety Directorate in Kyustendil and the police continue. Police found that the company's building had been put up for sale.

Because the Dupnitsa cannery is not registered, according to the law on food in Bulgaria, sanctions of up to BGN 10,000 are envisaged. The management of the company will also incur fines of up to BGN 15,000 because it hires workers without signing employment contracts with them.

At the end of October last year, tons of counterfeit vinegar were found in Dupnitsa, which was produced entirely from synthetic raw materials and chemical substances.

Penal decrees totaling BGN 3,000 were imposed on the manufacturer Vinprom Dupnitsa EOOD, and the production activity of the enterprise was suspended.
