The flour for the bread of Christmas Eve should be sieved three times. In this way, not only does the bread become fluffier because air particles enter the flour, but also because it is part of the tradition of preparing the bread for the holiday. Ritual songs were once sung while the flour was sifted for Christmas Eve.

From time immemorial on the table tonight should break soda bread, which you can decorate with a cross, cereals, made by hand with a small piece of dough. If you don't like the idea of soda bread, you can also make a yeast cake.

To prepare the bread, the yeast is mixed with salt and sugar and a little warm water. Add 1 tablespoon of flour and mix everything and let it simmer for about ten minutes. A well is made from the flour and yeast is placed in the middle. Add water - about 300 milliliters, until you get a soft dough that should not stick to your hands when kneading.

The dough for the Christmas tree is left to rise for an hour and a half. Then a pie is formed, which is placed in a tray. On top of strips of dough is formed the decoration - ears of wheat or cross. Leave to rise for another half an hour and bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees.

On Christmas Eve the bread is broken by the oldest member of the family. The first piece is left for the Mother of God, and the second is for the house. It rises high.
