Oshawat is part of the traditional Bulgarian table for Christmas Eve. On December 24, it is mandatory to eat only lean meals, and this is the last day on which meat and dairy products are prohibited. Traditionally, the dishes must be an odd number, and one of them must be oshava.

It is a compote of many types of dried fruits - prunes, apricots, apples, figs, pears and more. You can buy Oshav from any grocery store, but if you want to keep the most authentic Christmas spirit, you will prepare it at home.

It is relatively easy, you do not need many products, it is also tasty and has quite good dietary qualities. It is good once you have decided to do it at home, to prepare it 1-2 days before the holiday. In some parts of Bulgaria, oshava is prepared on St. Ignatius Day, which is on December 20. If you want to do it then the only condition is that you have to keep it cold.

In the busy and constantly busy everyday life, a large part of the people make a living on the day itself, so if you fail to follow the tradition - do it just before the holiday evening. What do we need to prepare a tasty and at the same time useful oshav?
