Today, it is most prominent on the shelves of every supermarket and an important element of nightlife around the world. Renewed and advertised with as much love as it is consumed, Schweppes he fully deserved his fame.

He has a debt history, which began in the distant 1783. Believe it or not, Schweppes was invented by a jeweler. At the end of the 18th century, the German of Swiss origin, Jakob Schwepe, invented his formula to artificially create carbonated water by using carbon dioxide.

He founded Schweppes in Geneva, but later moved to England, where he developed it. There, Schweppe gets the rare chance to be the first supplier of soda to the Court of Justice. The drink also received the favor of Queen Victoria, who quickly approved a strategy for its development and directed it to a specific clientele.

So carbonated, fresh and original drink gradually introduced into the English colonies, composed mainly of Indians. To adapt to the local market, quinine bark is added to the drink and this is later included in the recipe. Thus was born the great Indian tonic (1870)

Other innovations will be made much later, in 1986, when fruit-based products appeared, and in 1992, when Schweppes began to follow another trend, developing its "light" version. In 1999 the Citrus range was created.

Since then, the range of fruit flavors has expanded and sometimes there are separate products for specific markets such as Schweppes Spirit, a series of fruit drinks launched in Spain since 2007.

Over time, Schweppes has established itself as a drink with a sophisticated and eccentric identity, aimed at people between the ages of 25 and 35, building its image as the face of carefully selected events.

In 2008, Schweppes launched a new strategy based on a new slogan (Creators of Tastes from 1783) and targeted a more chic clientele. The drink gradually creates an association for luxury, but at the same time remains available to everyone in supermarkets and cafes.

To spur this revolution, in 2009 Nicole Kidman became part of an advertisement for the famous drink, photographed in a castle with an Indian appearance, reminiscent of its roots and the luxurious nature of the brand.

Both then and today Schweppes is synonymous with the freshness and originality that everyone needs.
