Dangerous squid from China and South Korea frighten consumers around the world, as seafood is high in mutated bacteria and is already in stores.
Squid with dangerous bacteria have been found in grocery stores in Canada and have been found to contain microorganisms that are resistant to antibiotic treatment because they have a gene that neutralizes them.
Scientists have isolated from Chinese squid the bacterium Pseudomonas fluorescence, which can bind to other dangerous bacteria, such as Escherichia coli, and form enzymes that weaken the body's immune system.
These compounds show strong resistance to antibiotics, which makes them very dangerous to consume.
In general, bacteria should die during cooking, but those found in Chinese and South Korean squid can survive even prolonged heat treatment.
Experts warn that these squid pose a global threat.
If until now this drug resistance was most prevalent in hospitals, the threat now hangs over humanity, because this type of compound can be imported into the home not only during travel, but also with the consumption of seemingly safe food.
Health statistics show that around 25,000 people a year in Europe die from antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
Thanks to the seafood, however, chef Luca Torricelli grabbed the World title for best pasta dish. Torricelli made spaghetti with red Sicilian crabs and mojito.
The crabs were skillfully combined with mint leaves and grated lime peel, which is why the international jury awarded the title to the Argentine chef.
South African chef Giorgio Nawa came in second, making pasta with orange pepper cream from Cape Town, onions, raw ham and peas.
Armando Capokiani from China came in third, offering rigatoni with cream of shrimp cheese and white truffle.
