A fun and very tasty holiday will be opened tonight in our sea capital. For the first time Varna residents and guests of Varna will be able to attend Watermelon Festival.
So far, the watermelon festival has been held only in a village in Veliko Tarnovo, lasting only a day. However, Varna residents intend to turn their Watermelon Festival into a tradition.
Exactly at 19.00 the showmen Bobi Kasikov and Ventsi Kutsurov will cut a watermelon and will start the first festival of its kind in the region, which will take over the Sea Garden in Varna in the next ten days.
Every night from 19.00 to 21.30 lovers of red juicy fruit will be able to visit workshops for watermelon lanterns, which are well known to all mothers and fathers.
The program of the watermelon festival will include various events that will appeal to young and old. An exhibition of watermelons will take place on August 5, entitled Hero from Near and Far.
There will also be a competition for the most successful lantern. During each festival evening, one of the best works will be selected, and at the end of the festival, a winner will be announced among the best lanterns.
The organizers of the holiday promise to provide watermelons to all enthusiasts who wish to take part in watermelon adventures. They suggest that for the ten days of the festival, more than three tons of watermelons produced in Bulgaria, and more precisely in General Toshevo and Shabla, will be cut, eaten, arranged and donated.
The first five hundred kilograms of watermelons have already been delivered to our sea capital. Many of them will be eaten tonight. The organizers of the holiday say that the Bulgarian Carving Club will join the festival. Its representatives will introduce Varna residents and tourists to the unique culinary art, using watermelons.
Carving originates from Asia. We remind you that the main idea of this art is to give an interesting and attractive look to a food product. Virtuosos in this field easily shape both fruits and vegetables.
