In almost all grocery stores we can now find ginger. The aromatic spice must be stored properly to give all its qualities to the dishes in which you will use it.

Where to keep it depends on what kind of ginger you bought - whether fresh or dry. It is good if you have the choice to buy fresh, but in case you find only dry, you can store it very easily.

All you need is an empty glass jar with a lid - the container should close very well. The jar with the spice should be kept in a dark and cool place. You can, of course, store dried ginger in the refrigerator, in a paper bag.

The only condition for proper storage is not to put the spice in a plastic bag. This applies not only to dry but also to fresh ginger.

In fact, the younger the ginger, the less time you will be able to store it. In the dry version, the spice can be stored for a much longer time if kept in a suitable container and place.

If you bought fresh ginger, here's how you can store it at home:

- One of the options for storing fresh ginger is to grate the spice on a coarse grater and then form balls. Place them on a tray with pre-spread parchment paper and then place the tray in the cold.

When the small balls of ginger are frozen, you can collect them and put them in a suitable jar with a lid. Then put the jar in the freezer. This way you can store the spice for at least half a year.

- The next suggestion is to peel the spice, then you have to grate it again on a large grater. Put it in a suitable jar and pour oil on top - do not spare the fat, ginger should be abundantly watered. This way you can store the spice in the refrigerator.

- If you put fresh ginger in a paper bag, you can store it in a cool place in the refrigerator for up to three weeks.
